Annabel Lee This has always been my favorite Poe poem! Along with The Raven it is also his most recognized. Could there be a sadder story? This was Poe's swan song to his beloved young wife who died from tuberculosis after 5 long years of struggle and pain. To prepare herself for the read, Jeanne Fontana harkened back to the days when her grandmother used to tell stories. "She could make a story about cooking spaghetti riveting!" When Jeanne finished her astonishing, sensitive read (done all in one take), I was in tears! TEARS I tell you! She just looked at me and said, "Thank you for that." Thank you Jeanne.
